Retired television news director Nora Gerard worked at CBS since her graduation in 1974 through to her retirement in June 2022. A pioneering woman in the industry, Gerard rose to the pinnacle in 2011 when she was named director of the highly acclaimed CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood, now Jane Pauley.
Having started her career as assistant to the director for the Thanksgiving and Cotton Bowl parades, Gerard advanced through a series of production and managerial jobs that led to the role of associate director on the CBS Morning News. She juggled further assignments on the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, the CBS Weekend News, and many magazine shows, including the original 48 Hours.
Gerard also directed prime time shows Verdict with Connie Chung and Street Stories with Ed Bradley. She has been nominated for many DGA and Daytime Emmy awards for the direction of Sunday Morning, serves as an alternate on the DGA Board of Trustees and on the Eastern Directors Council.
